What will my website cost?
Well there is no simple answer to this question. Every website we design is slightly different, so there are no set prices. To complicate matters further, there is more than one way of building a website, and each way can have pros and cons and cost implications. At the start of any new project, we will ask you lots of questions to establish what you need. We will then suggest the best possible solution.
The main factors that affect cost of a site include:
- The amount of content (text and images)
- The number of pages and image galleries
- How you plan to update your site - fully editable sites tend to be more expensive.
(See types of content management system) - What special features you want on your site (eg blogs, guest books, subscription forms etc.)
- The technologies used to build your site
The bottom line is that the more complex your site in terms of functionality or content, or both, the more it is going to cost you.
Standard websites
These are quality hand-coded websites, built to your specification. You can include a range of features and functionality. A Content Management System can be included if you want to be able to update the content yourself. These are quality, robust sites and run on all modern browsers. Prices start at £420. Flash websites
These websites are built using Flash technology which means that they are easier to create. You can include a wide range of design features and functionality at little extra cost. For example, you can have guestbooks, blogs, animations (movement), slide shows, contact forms etc at far less cost than a standard website. You can also include more galleries and more images without considerable extra outlay. These sites require that the visitor's computer has a Flash player (standard on all modern computers). On Apple iphones and ipads, these sites will display a version optimised for presentation on these devices. This means that the site will not look exactly the same, but you can be sure that all the images and text will be there. Flash websites can also include a Content Management System. Prices start at £395. Click here to see a simple example of a Flash website. Click here to see an example of how these webites look on mobile devices.
Starter websites for artists – low cost entry level websites
We know that not all artists need a large, tailor made website; all that is required is a simple showcase. To meet this need, we also offer a budget website package consists of a home page, a biography page, a contact page and a gallery consisting of up to eight example examples of work. Starter sites start at £285 (including a domain name and hosting for one year). All you need to do is email us your images, contact details and text for your biography page, and we will do the rest. If you can stretch your budget a bit further, the site can be linked to a content management system so you can update the text (or text and images) yourself. Or you can have extra content pages or more images in your gallery. Click here to see an example of our starter site for artists. Contact us if you would like more details.
Websites for art groups
Art group websites can be very large, featuring a gallery page for each artist in the group. We specialise in websites for art groups and have fixed price structure for these types of sites. Each project is different, so please contact us for prices.

How much will it cost to run my website? The ongoing costs of website ownership.
The first year of hosting and support is included in all our packages. From year two, you will need to pay our yearly hosting/support fees (from £48 per year for an average site or from £65 per year if you have content management system attached to your site).
You will also need to renew your domain name (either .com or .co.uk) yearly. The renewal cost is currently £10 for a .co.uk name and £15 for a .com name.
